Register now for the 2014 Conference on 16th and 17th May, 2014.  Celebrate with us on our 30th Anniversary. We have an exhilarating and uplifting conference with inspirational speakers, such as the popular Maggie Dent, inspiring Griffin Longley and creative Barbara Piscitelli.

Maggie Dent is a well known and popular speaker who is an author, educator and resilience specialist with a particular interest in the early years and adolescent children. She has written several books such as Nurturing Kids’ Hearts and Souls: Building Emotional, Social and Spiritual Competency and Real Kids in an Unreal World: How to Build Resilience and Self Esteem in Today’s Children.
 Maggie’s is an entertaining and informative speaker and presents her message — based on evidence-based research — in a real, compassionate, humorous and inspirational way that makes the learning truly memorable.

Griffin Longley is an award winning journalist, program manager for Midnight Basketball for at risk kids in the Midland area and CEO of Nature Play WA.
In 2010 the WA Department of Sport and Recreation gave Griffin the task of building an incorporated association, Nature Play WA Inc. to promote the importance of unstructured play outside and in nature. Nature Play WA was incorporated in January 2011 and secured independent funding in the June 2011 WA State Budget. Nature Play WA is now a successful organisation with an international reputation for innovative programs that increase awareness of the benefits of unstructured play outdoors.
Griffin is a passionate advocate for encouraging children and families to engage with the outdoors and the overall benefits of not only physical well being but also the mental and social aspects of children’s health.

Barbara Piscitelli

Barbara is a freelance consultant and researcher in education and the arts. Her research explores cultural Barbara Piscitellipolicy and childhood, children’s learning in museums, and early childhood visual arts education. Recent projects include community consultation on redevelopment of an art gallery (Maitland,NSW); design and development of school and community workshops for children and families (North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum, QLD); (Queensland Indigenous Knowledge Centres – State Library of Queensland); community consultation and strategic planning – Playeum – the Play Museum of Singapore.
Dr Piscitelli was recognised in the Australia Day 2006 Honours as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). The citation for her award reads: ‘For service to early childhood education as a teacher, to the establishment of programs in cultural institutions for children, and as a collector and curator of children’s art.’
